How does a normal day play out at Surf and Friends?
Morning
In the mornings, we start with surf instruction based on the surf conditions and the tides. We typically eat breakfast, then get into our surfing gear. Visit one of the top 25 local surf spots that the instructors will choose. Surf instructors at our Surfcamp in Morocco will keep a watchful eye on you while you ride the waves for two hours, so you can take a break for lunch and then jump right back into the ocean.
Afternoon
We'll go for a longer morning session or perhaps before breakfast if the surf forecast doesn't look good for the afternoon. Relax on one of our four patios, swim in our heated pool, or watch a movie in our lounge when you return to Surf and Friends Lodge after a day of surfing.
Evening
Watch the sun go down while you treat your body to an hour of restorative yoga or stretching after a day of surfing. Gather with pals for a nightcap and food before calling it a day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
First of all, have a passport, a visa (if you need one), and Morocco’s passenger entry form printed out. Remember to purchase travel insurance that covers surfing in Morocco.
Toiletries:
- Sun cream and surf zinc (you can buy it here)
- After sun moisturizer
- Personal toiletries
- You can buy most toiletries in Tamraght but they can cost more than in Europe. Clothing:
- Sandals for the beach
- sun hat and sunglasses
- At least one set of swimwear
Tamraght can be hot in the daytime and cooler in the evenings.
Can I wear beachwear around town?
Tamraght is a beach town, so it’s fine to wear bikinis on the beach, shorts, and t-shirts. But if it’s Ramadan or you’re walking around town or going to the local markets, it’s better to cover up out of respect for local customs. The sun in Morocco can be intense, even on cloudy days, so bring sun protection and apply it regularly.
Do you take solo tourists or groups?
We welcome both solo travelers and large tour groups here at Surf and Friends. Those who sense a draw towards the water and a desire to experience living in harmony with nature will find a helpful and friendly group of surfing coaches here at Friends and Surf. Just visit us, kick back, and let the water free your mind; you’ll come back with a fresh perspective and memories to last a lifetime.
How many surfing students per teacher?
The maximum ratio of instructors to students is 1:8 for adults and 1:4 for children. If you’re on a retreat, the ratio can be lower.
What about Post Surfing Relaxation?
Surfing can be hard on the body, especially your shoulders, after all the paddling and pushing yourself up on the board. After surfing, we like to help our recovery with a post-surf restorative stretch or yoga class. The class is one hour long, and depending on the group, it could be a simple stretching session or a yoga class taught by certified yoga instructors. All Surf and Stretch holidays include one hour of stretching or yoga per day.
Do I Need Insurance?
We recommend that you have travel and medical insurance that covers your illness Accidents do happen; luggage can get lost, so it’s better to be prepared.
What if I’ve never surfed before?
Everyone has to start somewhere! We love beginners.
