What does a typical day look like?
Morning
We have surf lessons depending on the surf conditions and the tides. Usually, we have breakfast before getting ready for surfing. Head to one of 25 local surf spots where the instructors will pick the best one for the group. After two hours of surf lessons, have a quick lunch and get back in the water for a supervised session where our surf coaches keep an eye on you from the beach.
Afternoon
If the surf conditions won’t be good in the afternoon, we’ll either have a longer surf session in the morning, or even go before breakfast.
After surfing go back to Surf and Friends Lodge to chill on one of our four terraces, go for a dip in our heated pool, or watch a movie in our lounge.
Evening
Make sure to help your body recover from surfing with a one-hour post-surf restorative stretch or yoga class and watch the sunset. Finish the day surrounded by friends, have dinner, and get some rest for the next day.
WHY CHOOSE US?
We divide surf groups by ability. Typically, we split groups into total beginners or improvers/ intermediates. Beginners will learn how to control their surfboard in the waves, how to stand up, and how to catch a wave in the white water. Improvers/ intermediates are catching or learning to catch their own waves and working on their positioning in the lineup. We bring beginners and improvers to sandy-bottomed beach breaks with conditions that suit the ability of the group - no reef breaks allowed.check forecast
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT SHOULD I PACK?
First of all, a passport, visa (if you need one), and Morocco’s passenger entry form printed out. Remember to purchase travel insurance that covers surfing.
Toiletries:
– Sun cream and surf zinc (you can buy it here)
– After sun/ moisturizer
– Personal toiletries
You can buy most toiletries in Tamraght but they can cost more than in Europe. Clothing:
– Sandals for the beach
– Sun hat, and sunglasses
– At least one set of swimwear
– Clothing – Tamraght can be hot in the daytime and cooler in the evenings.
Tamraght is a beach town so it’s fine to wear bikinis on the beach, shorts, t-shirts. But, if it’s Ramadan, or you’re walking around town, or going to the local markets it’s better to cover up out of respect for local customs. The sun in Morocco can be intense, even on cloudy days so bring sun protection and apply it regularly.
HOW MANY SURF COACHES PER STUDENT?
The maximum ratio of instructors to students is 1:8 for adults and 1:4 for children. If you’re on a retreat the ratio can be lower.
WHAT IS POST-SURF RESTORATIVE STRETCH?
Surfing can be hard on the body, especially your shoulders after all the paddling and pushing yourself up on the board. After surfing, we like to help our recovery with a post-surf restorative stretch or yoga class. The class is one hour long and depending on the group, could be a simple stretching session or a yoga class taught by certfied yoga instructors. All Surf and Stretch Holidays include one hour of stretch or yoga per day.
DO I NEED INSURANCE?
We recommend that you have travel and medical insurance that covers you for surfing. Accidents do happen and luggage can get lost so it’s better to be prepared.
WHAT IF I’VE NEVER SURFED BEFORE?
Everyone has to start somewhere! We love beginners.
