FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DO I KNOW IF I’M AN INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED SURFER?
If you can catch a green wave by yourself, surf correctly on a hardboard, and can turn both ways then we would count you as an intermediate surfer.
HOW DO I PHYSICALLY PREPARE FOR SURFING?
Staying fit will help, go swimming to try and keep up your shoulder strength. Planks and burpees are great for core strength to maintain your popup.
DO I NEED TO BRING MY OWN SURFBOARD?
You can if you want to but we have a selection of hard boards for you to choose from. This is a great way to try out different boards and improve your skillset.
HOW MANY INSTRUCTORS ARE THERE PER STUDENT?
In our surf clinics there’s 1 instructor: 8 students.
For our intensive sessions, there’s 1 surf instructor: 4 students.
THE RETREAT, SURF SESSION AND SURF CLINIC IS FULLY BOOKED, CAN YOU PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST?
Yes, or if you have a group of friends that want to come, let us know and we can sort something out depending on the group size.
WHAT SURF SPOTS WILL WE GO TO?
We will go to the right surf spot for the conditions, what techniques you’re working on, and the ability of the group.
For the longboarders, one day is likely to be in Imsouane, or the Magic Bay which is the longest wave in Morocco and great for practicing your steps and nose-riding. For shortboarders, we may go to Anchor Point depending on the conditions.
WILL WE GO TO IMSOUANE EVERY DAY? I HEARD IT’S THE ONLY PLACE WORTH LONGBOARDING
Imsouane can be a great spot for longboarding but also one of the busiest. Surf and Friends Lodge is in a great location because we have so many surf spots nearby. We know that the best way to improve your surfing is to go to the right spot for what the surf coaches want to you focus on. There’s no point in waiting for the perfect conditions or the perfect waves so you can practice perfect technique. The best surfers go out in all conditions.
We surf the big waves, the small waves, and waves in all conditions. We know the spots because we surf them everyday, and we can surf the big swells. Everything we teach is methods and techniques we’ve used to improve our own surfing. We focus on individual goal setting, breaking progression barriers down, and taking you to the next level. Not sure?
